Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an effective talking therapy, designed to help sufferers of  anxiety and depression.  CBT is based on the concept that the your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations i.e. the way you think, feel and behave are all sequentially interconnected.  Particularly after an accident or trauma the memories can turn into a vicious cycle of overwhelming negative thoughts.  CBT deals with these current problems in the here and now rather than focusing on past issues.

My CBT approach recommends between 5 and 12 sessions lasting up to an hour and a half.  Once a client is engaged I will ask them to practice some of the learned exercises daily and attend sessions until they feel that their problems are under control and not affecting their daily lives in any way.
